Safety-conscious law firm Coles Miller is sponsoring Britain’s surf life saving championships next month in Poole.
The Surf Life Saving GB National Surf Championships will be held from August 17-24 at Branksome Chine. More than 1,250 competitors will take part in events including:
- Board Rescue – one team member swims to a buoy and waits to be picked up by a second team member on a board
- Surf Swim – competitors run into the surf, swim around a course, return to the finish flags on the beach
- Board Race – competitors run into the water, launch their boards, paddle a course, return to the beach and run across the finish line
- Oceanman – includes a swim leg, a board leg and a surf ski leg
- 1km beach run.
Hosting the event will be Branksome Chine Surf Life Saving Club (BCSLSC). The voluntary club was founded in 1990 and now has 250 members aged from 8 to 80.
