Catherine Gregg, Director of Dorset-based RT Promotions will be taking part in the 100km Jurassic Coast Challenge, walking from Poole to Bridport to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society on 21st July 2018.

The route will start at Poole Harbour and will follow the spectacular Jurassic Coast, up and down through Lulworth Cove to the Weymouth half-way point and then past Portland Bill and Chesil Beach to West Bay’s Sandstone Cliffs, before finishing up and crossing the finish line in the vibrant town of Bridport.

Says Catherine, “I love a challenge, and this is certainly my biggest yet. I have chosen to raise money for the Alzheimer's society as this charity is very close to my heart as some of my family have been affected by it. It's an awful disease, especially for those left behind and I really do hope we can find a cure one day.

Having just completed my first 30km training I have now realised the enormity of this challenge and just how tough it is going to be! This will be such an amazing achievement for me. My goal is to complete this challenge in 24 hours or less on the day as I will be walking nonstop in order to complete it.”

Alzheimer’s is a progressive illness that affects the brain, affecting over 520,000 people in the UK. The disease causes proteins to build up in the brain, which breaks the connections between nerve cells, causes a loss of brain tissue, and restricts important chemicals in the brain, which helps to transmit signals.  As the Alzheimer’s disease worsens over time, it can increasingly interfere with day to day life, such as problems with memory loss, language, communication and orientation.

Catherine adds, “Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. They create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, and able to live in their community without fear or prejudice. So please help me raise my target of £430 of this cause, you can donate at: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/catherine-gregg1”.
